Reverte PET Compatibility with the Recycling Stream

The Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers Annual Meeting, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 22nd October 2009.

Mr Carl Birch, Sales and Marketing Director of Wells Plastics was invited by Dave Cornell of APR to present the interim findings of a study initiated by Wells Plastics in conjunction with APR on the compatibility of the Reverte PET additive with the PET recycling feed stream at their Annual Technical Meeting at Myrtle Beach.

The study which uses the APR protocol is well underway but the completed study will take many years, as this is a highly demanding and thorough protocol.

Wells have been in discussions with APR for over twelve months and have sought a route of positive engagement to allay concerns that the use of Reverte could affect the potential recycling rates which APR have sought to increase over the years.

Various data was shared at the well attended conference, with an audience in excess of 100 industry players. The paper was well received and Wells were able to fully demonstrate an understanding of APRs concerns and on having taken very serious steps to provide reassuring data.

The data presented went some way to confirming compatibility and commitment to this exciting product sector.
